Blacksmith Schools In Illinois

Looking for blacksmith classes in Illinois? Most of your metalworking options are in the Chicago area.


There are two main places in Chicagoland to learn blacksmithing (at this time):

  1. Fine Line Creative Arts Center
  2. Fire Arts Center of Chicago
Fine Line offers Basic Iron Forging and Blacksmithing for $145. It's a single day session from 9 AM - 5 PM. This is a prerequisite for all of their other classes. You can find more details in the Fine Line listing below.

Fire Arts Chicago offers 16-week classes for $400. This comes out to $25 per 3 hour class which is an amazing deal. Classes are offered multiple days per week. More details are available in the Fire Arts listing below.

If you haven't found a class offering that suits your schedule, there are other blacksmiths within driving distance. Brown County Forge is located in Bloomington, Indiana less than 4 hours from both Urbana-Champaign and Chicago.
