Anvils for Sale

anvil for sale

Looking for an anvil? On this page you will find new and used anvils ranging in price from the $300s to $1000s.
When buying an anvil, you should consider a few things:
  1. Larger anvils are more versatile than smaller ones. Their added weight and dimensions allow you to work on much larger metal. They also cost more.
  2. Forged anvils are more durable than cast anvils. That said, you can get a lifetime of work out of a cast anvil. All you really need is a surface that's harder than the heated metal you're working. In primitive times, a large rock was used as the anvil as the blacksmith shaped the metal with a rock in his hand.
  3. Price varies based on the manufacturer, size, and material of the anvil. There are smaller, lesser-known companies (Kanca, Perun) with great anvils that cost less than the heavy hitters and antiques (Fisher & Norris, Hay Budden, Peddinghaus).

The firepot and tuyere on this forge are both from Pieh Tools and the firepot has a clinker breaker.  The blower was purchased from Grainger.  If you ever have the need to move your forge (SAFELY) due to limited smithy space or any other reason, this is a GREAT forge for doing just that.  Come out and have a look.  I'm in San Antonio.

    1. Hi Jeremy. The anvil in the top picture isn't actually for sale. It's more of a reference. If you'd like some help locating one in your area, you can send us a note at diyblacksmith@gmail.com.
