  1. Hey, I am an aspiring black smith and am looking for somewhere or someone who would have me as an apprentice. I feel that liquid metal has been coursing thru my veins all my life. I've been a knife maker for close to three years, but never done any forging. I'm in meridian MS, and when I checked out MISSISSIPPI CRAFT CENTER, it didn't seem to have any black smithing related stuff on the site anywhere. Did I make a mistake? Can someone please point me in the right direction? The school is in the same area code as me so I was stoked....any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

    1. Hi Tony-

Thanks for your note and welcome to the craft! What kind of knives have you been working on?

Here's some information I hope is helpful:

Since the Mississippi Craft Center features so many different crafts, it's possible they're limited on the number of blacksmithing opportunities they can offer.

I'd recommend getting in touch with the Mississippi Forge Council (http://www.msforgecouncil.com/). They should be able to point you in the right direction.

I appreciate the heads up on the listings, too. I'll be adding the Forge Council shortly.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    2. Thanks Terran! I'm looking to become a member of the forge council, it looks like that's how I'll get my foot in the door with one of their green coal classes. I just want to immerse myself in this amazing craft man! Thanks for the quick reply, oh and to answer your question, I make full tang fixed blade knives. My recent ones have been smaller, and I've been using files over the belt sander and grind stone. If you want to see some of the work I've done, you can visit my Facebook page - www.facebook.com/IneffableH
Or simply do a google search for Anthony Hager Knives.
I like to replicate a lot of neat designs I find online, maybe changing a thing or two, while also making my own original designs.
      Thanks!
