Finding A Blacksmithing Class Just Got Easier

After hours scouring the web and entering data, my dream of creating a clickable map of blacksmiths and schools offering classes in the U.S. is now a reality.

It's easy to use. Just click on the state you want and you will be taken to a page with a list of schools in that state. (Clicking on the image below will take you to the Blacksmith Schools page with the map. You can also use the Page Tab at the top right.)

Each state's list is a living document reflecting current information. As you're browsing, if you know of a school or blacksmith offering classes and they aren't listed, leave me a comment. I'll add the information.

This interactive map is part of an ongoing effort to provide valuable tools and information for people interested in blacksmithing. If there's something you've been searching for that you're not finding, let me know. I'd be happy to find a solution.

Enjoy the map and, as always, thanks for reading!

    1. Hi Mark. That's a great idea. Are you thinking it would mostly be a way to network or do you have other ideas?

    2. That is exactly what I am thinking. I have moved a lot this past year and I am always on the lookout for other smiths. I think it should be just contact info. many smiths have been robbed lately and we can't be too safe!

    3. I like the idea. I'll look into setting something up to gauge interest and possibly creating a contact form to gather the info.

  8. I am one of the 1850’s Blacksmiths in Old Town San Diego State Park. Everyday we get asked where can I learn how to be a blacksmith near where I live? This is great information to pass along; do you have something like a post/business card that we could pass out? If not I will put you web info out there.

    1. Hi Pat. It's great to hear from you and I'm happy to hear people are so interested in giving blacksmithing a shot. I don't have a physical card to hand out, but you can definitely send people to the site.

If they forget the web address they can always type "diy blacksmithing" in search, too. It should show up at the top of the page. Thanks!

They have a glass shop, etc.. also.. They are running totally off of methane produced by the old landfil.. It is kind of unique. The shop is nice..
