  5. are there any blacksmith schools in western pa?

    1. We haven't come across any blacksmiths offering classes in Western Pennsylvania yet, but you might try looking up "metal workers" "welders" and "farriers" near you. They often have contacts or experience in traditional smithing.

      For example, I found a few listings for "pittsburgh metal working" just a few minutes ago.

  7. Desperately looking for intro to blacksmithing for my 15 yr old son or even a forge he can ‘hang around and watch’. We’re in northwest PA and I realize there isn’t much here, but will travel. Most things I see are for 18+.
    He is extremely interested and I’ve had a ‘forge’ in my backyard off and on for over 2 years now. I wish he had as much motivation in school as he does in working with metals.
    Any info or recommendations are greatly appreciated.
